Italian-Style Fig Bread

Ingredients for 24 pieces

  • ¾ cup of Fuel By Nature Dried Figs
  • ½ cup peeled almond kernels
  • ½ cup hazelnuts
  • ½ cup walnut kernels
  • ¾ cup mixed, candied fruits
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch clove
  • 1 pinch coriander
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • Butter for greasing
  • Icing sugar for dusting

Preparation

Total time approx. 50 minutes

1. Briefly toast the almonds and nuts in a pan while stirring. Let cool and roughly chop.

2. Chop the figs and the candied fruits into small cubes, place in a bowl and mix with the nuts with the spices.

3. Put powdered sugar and honey in a metal bowl on a double boiler. Stir constantly over low heat until the mass melts and strings then let cool a little while stirring.

4 Stir the honey solution into the prepared nut-fruit mixture and mix in 1-2 tablespoons of flour. Line 2 muffin trays with baking paper, pour in the batter and smooth out.

5. Bake in a preheated oven (300°F fan oven) for approx. 25-30 minutes. Let cool down. Dust with powdered sugar to garnish.
